Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik Move Supreme Court To File FIR Against WFI Chief In Sexual Harassment Case

It is back to square one.
Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik Move Supreme Court To File FIR Against WFI Chief In Sexual Harassment Case

In January this year, Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat led protests against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and alleged that he has sexually exploited the female players. She levied serious allegations against him and Anurag Thakur, the sports minister had to intervene to settle the matter. Last, it was revealed that a committee will be set up to find out if these allegations against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh are true, and go deep to find out the truth. But since no arrests were made over the period of three months, and even the report of the committee was not shared, Vinesh Phogat has once again staged protests at Jantar Mantar.

As per reports, Vinesh Phogat along with Sakshi Singh and Bajrang Punia have moved to the Supreme Court to have an FIR filed against the WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. In their plea, the protesting wrestlers have asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to file an FIR against Sharan Singh. The wrestlers also stated in their plea that there has been a delay in the filing of the FIR.

They also alleged that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh also sexually harassed a minor, and because of this incident they had levied the POSCO charges against him as well. Because there was inaction on this matter, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia staged an overnight protest at Jantar Mantar. They slept on the footpath and the pictures of the same were shared by her on Twitter.

The protestors also said that want the committee that was set up to look into this matter to share the report of what they found out in their investigation. Initiating this string of protests earlier this year, Phogat alleged that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been harassing female players for several years now.

Why has the committee not shared the findings of their investigation? Did it really take them three months to do the digging? Or was it all just a tactic to gain time and try to slip out of this issue?
