BCCI Announces The Women’s Premier League Schedule. First Clash Between Mumbai And Gujarat!

We all know the fandom that cricket has in India especially. It’s not a sport, it’s technically a religion here! Among all, the IPL format is a highly awaited one by all in India, and now adding to this already existing excitement, we also have the Women’s Premier League aka Women’s IPL coming up very soon. Now that the schedule for it has also been announced, we can just relax and wait for March! This is the first time that Women’s IPL is happening in India so that makes it even more special!

On Monday, February 13, the Women’s IPL auctions were held in which Smriti Mandhana became one of the highest-paid cricket players in India, and will be seen playing for Royal Challenger’s Bangalore. A day later, the BCCI released the final schedule for WPL which starts in March. The opening match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants on March 4 at DY Patil Stadium, in Navi Mumbai. In total there will be 20 matches that the first-ever Women’s IPL will have and that will go on for a period of 23 days. There will be two playoff matches and four doubleheaders. The Elimination match has been scheduled for March 23, and the thrilling finals will be held on March 26 which all also be the final end of the inaugural WPL. 

As per the schedule, the timing for the first match will be around 3:30 Ist. And all the evening matches will start at 7:30 Ist, as per the news.

The Women’s IPL auction was also a huge success. Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet Singh were also on the list of the top 5 highest-paid Indian cricketers in this format. The BCCI also released a video of the players watching the auction and you could feel the tension and suspense in the room!
