World Population Hits 8 Billion. And Here, Vladimir Putin Awards Mothers With 10 Or More Children. The Joke Is Upon Us!
In today’s biggest news (one of the many), the world now has a population of 8 billion people. 8000000000 – that’s how many people are living on Earth as of November 15, 2022 (give or take). It is by far the fastest addition of 1 billion humans to the population. And I so wish I was exaggerating, but trust me, I am not. While many countries and their leaders are afraid and concerned about what this might mean for the world, there is Vladimir Putin who is dancing to a different note altogether. Instead of coming up with plans and policies to curb the population, Vladimir Putin is handing out the ‘Mother Heroine’ award to women who have over 10 children.
Yep, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, handed out “Mother Heroine” awards – a first after reviving the Soviet-era title. The award honours all the mothers out there who have more than ten children.
As per reports, the “Mother Heroine” award that Vladimir Putin handed is an award “for great merits in strengthening the institution of the family and raising children”. Among the many women who received the award was Medni Kadyrova, wife of Ramzan Kadyrov.
The official decree reviving the award states, “the title Mother Heroine to be awarded to a mother who is a citizen of Russian Federation, who has given birth to and brought up ten or more children who are citizens of the Russian Federation.” Vladimir Putin revived this award that was handed to women between 1990 and 1994, in August.
Following its revival, this is the first time that Vladimir Putin has handed it out. The women who are honoured with this title are entitled to $16,128 (1 million Rubles). The revival and handing out of the title also shows the conservative path the country has taken since it invaded Ukraine.
If I do not even point out how conservative and orthodox this title is, then the other issue on hand is the world’s population. The president of one of the most powerful countries is not supporting women having a lot of children but also is threatening their life by condoning such things.
