US Imposes New Visa Restrictions On Taliban Officials To Condemn Bans On Afghan Women
We need more such steps by the world powers. It’s very important for powerful countries to take strict action against the injustice happening to Afghanistan women since the Taliban’s overtake. The world has seen them going through all kinds of restrictions in their own country, and now they are hardly left with any kind of freedom. However, in a step to condemn these unnecessary laws on Afghan women, the United States of America has announced some strict visa restrictions on Taliban officials.
On February 2, Thursday, United States Secretary Antony Blinken took to his social media handle to inform everyone that the US has taken repressive measures to condemn the various bans by the Taliban on their country’s women and girls. In an effort to do so, the US Secretary introduced many additional restrictions on visas of Taliban officials, the current and former ones.
We took actions today to promote accountability among Taliban leaders behind edicts banning women from universities and working with NGOs. We stand with the women and girls of Afghanistan and call for their access to education and careers to be restored.

This decision comes in view of the measures taken by Taliban officials to curb the freedom of Afghan women and girls, as per the news. They have banned them from visiting parks, and attending educational institutions, and also barred them from going to gyms. The unnecessary steps call for strict actions by the world powers, and the US has taken its first step to hold the Taliban accountable.
Even the United Nations is striving to work towards the betterment of Afghan women. Some UN authorities also met with the Taliban officials after they had banned women from working in NGOs. The United Nations has often called out the Taliban and had also asked for their removal from the UN Women panel.
