Sania Mirza has bid a tearful adieu to her Grand Slam career at the Australian Open 2023. Having won six Grand Slams in her glorious career so far, the first one being in 2009, she established herself as one of the best players of the game. Fans will dearly miss her smashing the tennis ball with her ever-famous forehand shot across the opponent’s court. And now, as she has bowed out of the Grand Slam, the video of her delivering her last speech in Melbourne has gone viral on social media. Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted about Sania Mirza entering the finals in her Grand Slam game and said that is something to be ‘proud of’. The official Twitter handle of the US Open also listed Sania Mirza’s greatest wins of her career, and congratulated her on her ‘remarkable Grand Slam career’.

In one of the pre-match interviews, the 36-year-old ace tennis player talked about the ‘solid relationship’ she shares with her mixed doubles partner, Rohan Bopanna. She said that he was her first-ever mixed doubles partner when she was just 14 years old.

Sania Mirza has won six Grand Slam doubles titles in her career. Of these, three are from the mixed doubles tournament. In her emotional farewell speech at the Australian Open, she announced that she will play a couple of matches before she retires but this was her last Grand Slam.
