Accused Sentenced Death Penalty
CCTV footage helped police track the 65-year-old man who lured a three-and-a-half-year-old girl with sweets and brutally assaulted her. He then strangled her to death. The family started searching for the child when they realised she was missing. The police identified the man using CCTV footage as Bhimrao Kamble, and the little girl was from Nasrapur village in Pune district.
The fast-track court in Pune district has given its verdict in the kidnapping, assault and murder case. The bench was presided over by Sessions Court Judge SR Salunkhe, and the case was termed as “the rarest of the rare”, considering the brutality and inhumanity that the man showed in committing the crime. As per an NDTV report, the court observed that the case deserved no leniency and that the crime proved that the accused were “fearless” and mercilessly committed it with absolutely no fear of the consequences. Reportedly, Kamble was previously involved in an assault case, and the court noted that he was expecting to escape even this time, too.

This verdict is certainly a strong message to the criminal-minded men who think they can get away with such merciless crimes against women. There are several women and girls still waiting for justice, and we hope they don’t have to keep waiting for years to see the culprits get the punishment they deserve. The court has set a much-needed example.
