Historic Decision: Miss Universe Removes Age Limit For Contestants!
A good move!
Women of all age groups are beautiful and have their own individuality which should be celebrated. However, till now, beauty pageants did not acknowledge this and instead put an age limit as a criterion for their contestants. But now, they have taken away this complaint from us. The historic announcement was made during Tanny Fletcher’s beauty pageant show on Tuesday, September 12. The good news is that the Miss Universe competition will no longer have an age limit for women, and any girl above 18 can not dream of holding one of the most prestigious beauty crowns.
This year, the New York Fashion Week witnessed a historical moment during Tanny Fletcher’s beauty pageant show. It was at this moment when the news about removing the age limit from the Miss Universe pageant was made. This first step towards celebrating the beauty and individuality of women in every age group. Since 1952, the upper limit for Miss Universe was set at 28 but now that there is no such criteria, every woman can dream of holding the crown.
Taking to the Miss Universe’s official Instagram page, the announcement was made public. As per the post, any adult woman can take part in the Miss Universe pageant and other pageants too. The rule will apply from 2024 and any woman above 18 will be able to participate. Along with the news, an official picture of Miss Universe 2022, R’Bonney Gabriel was also shared. People in the comment section expressed their reactions to it.

But people on Twitter have a contrary opinion on this new beauty pageant rule. Some users expressed their surprise about having older women in the pageant. Whereas some were quite happy about it and hailed this new change.
