Water Tank In Karnataka ‘Purified’ With Cow Urine After Dalit Woman Drinks From It. How Is Piss Cleaner?

It is 2022, and there are still people in Indian society that believe in the caste system and differentiate between people based on the same. It is never too late to unlearn some things, right? But I guess that is not applicable to Indians. In a recent case of caste discrimination, some ‘upper class’ people in a village in Karnatak washed a water tank with cow urine in order to purify it after a Dalit woman drank water from it! Yes, these regressive people had to go to such extreme lengths just because a thirsty woman drank water from the tank.
As per reports, this incident took place in the Heggotara village in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district. The woman had gone there to attend a wedding ceremony. She felt thirsty and went to a tank that is located in the upper-class area of the village to drink water from its tap.
But the people living in this area, instead of showing humanity, were angry over how could this woman cross a line. In order to purify the tank, these people had the entire tank drained and got it cleaned with cow urine (gau mutra). The local jurisdictional Tahseeldar, Basvaraj, confirmed that the water tank was cleaned recently, but he cannot confirm if it was with cow urine.
Furthermore, he also said that no one has seen the woman drink water from the tank and they are still looking for her. He went ahead and said that once they trace the woman, they will file a discrimination case.

It is so shocking that these so-called upper-class people have taken offence to a woman apparently drinking water. We even offer water to a stranger who asks for it on the basis of humanity. Getting the tank cleaned with cow urine was going too far! Also, I don’t understand how those people think it is okay and hygienic to have cow urine inside a tank and then have it filled with water that will in turn be supplied to the entire village.
