Indian Oxford Graduate Shares Heartwarming Story Of Late Grandfather Battling Casteism To Get Education
Okay, I will admit that I took my education for granted when I was a teenager. But soon, I realised that I need to score well in my exams in order to be successful in the future. Having said that, recently I was just checking my LinkedIn page when an interesting post by an Indian girl who graduated from Oxford University stole my attention. In the post, the girl named Juhi Koré shared how her late grandfather had to bear the brunt of casteism to attend school in 1947.
After graduating from the University of Oxford with a master’s degree in Comparative Social Politics, Juhi Koré penned down the sweetest note for her late maternal grandfather on her LinkedIn account which is going viral on the internet. In the post, she shared that India got independence in the year 1947, but not every citizen was not allowed to live a free and independent life. Her grandfather belonged to a family of the lowest caste and had to face discrimination at school from teachers and classmates. He was not allowed to sit inside the classroom but still, he was a bright student.

With the help of his school principal, he moved to Bombay to learn English and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Law while working. At the age of 60, Juhi’s grandfather retired as a high-level government official and she is very proud of him.
Furthermore, Juhi Koré mentioned that she lost her grandfather a year ago and dedicated her success to him who taught her the importance of education.
Well, it is true that her maternal grandfather’s story is inspiring.
