75 YO French Actor Allegedly Held Hostage In Goa, Says Disappointed With “Tourist-Friendly” India

Who would have thought that one cannot have a good time in Goa? Well, instead of taking back memories of soaking in the sun on the beaches, and having a fun time at one of the favourite tourist destinations in India, French actor Marianne Borgo alleges that she was being held hostage in the house that she purchased in Calangute, Panaji. She also expressed her disappointment at the central government as their efforts at making India tourist-friendly did not reach Goa. From the news reports that have surfaced online, it looks like there was a property issue that Borge was embroiled in.

As per reports, 75-year-old Marianne Borgo alleged that she was a hostage at her own house in Goa. She said that she has now left the house after there was a blockade outside for 11 days. There was a blockade outside her house by people who were claiming a right to the property. Marianne Borge purchased this house from a lawyer called Francisco Sousa. The trouble began for her after Sousa passed away during the pandemic.

Those people had made it difficult for Borge to live at the house as they had cut off the electricity and water connections. She had to evacuate the house as the lack of electricity and water was affecting her health. She also was unable to take a bath for 11 days because of the blockade and the protests of people.

Reportedly, Marianne also released a statement and said that she was disappointed with what happened to her as PM Narendra Modi is trying to make a positive image of India in the world as a country that is safe for tourists. But what happened with her has left her thinking otherwise.

Marianne Borge has starred in projects like The Bourne Identity, Prolifilage, a French thriller series, and A Little Princess among others.

It must be scary to be barricaded in a foreign country with no help from anyone. The people who blockaded the path to her house also displayed a great ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ gesture! Trap an elderly woman in the house over the property issue. Yes, very generous and kind of them. I wonder what the matter was that could not be solved through negotiations and talk.
