WTF decision is this?
Unnao Rape Convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar Gets Bail For Daughter’s Marriage. Why Such Perks?

A rape convict who ruined the life of somebody’s daughter was recently granted permission to attend his own daughter’s wedding. In the recent news, the Unnao rape case convict, an ex-BJP leader, Kuldeep Singh Sengar was granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court for two weeks to attend his daughter’s wedding. The decision was taken by the two-judge bench on Monday, January 16.

The 2017 gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Unnao left the country in shock. The prime accused in this case was the ex-BJP MLA, Kuldeep Singh Sengar. In 2019, he was proven guilty and charged with rape laws. Kuldeep Singh Sengar was sent to life imprisonment and the Bhartiya Janata Party also disassociated itself from the culprit. Recently, Kuldeep Singh moved to the High Court with a plea to grant him two-month interim bail for his daughter’s wedding. On January 16, Monday, the divisional bench addressed by Justices Mukta Gupta and Poonam A Bamba heard the plea. They decided to grant the convict two weeks of interim bail, which starts on January 27. The end date of this bail is February 10. He has been asked to report to the SHO daily during his bail period, as per the news.

Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted in the Unnao Rape Case on December 16, 2019. He, in fact, moved to the higher courts to challenge this decision and it is pending. The minor girl who no longer lives among us was abducted and raped by Kuldeep Singh Sengar in June 2017. Many attempts were made by the convict to stop the girl from speaking out against him, and he basically misused his powers into making the police threaten the girl.

Even after being convicted of such a grave and inhumane crime, Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been granted bail to attend his daughter’s wedding. Why? As a woman, this decision has only left me with questions about our safety and trust. In his plea, he urged that as the only male member of the house, he needs to be present for the wedding. Why has the court shown leniency in this case? A man who has been charged with crimes that took a girl’s life does not really deserve such perks, to be honest! The crimes against women in our country are rising each day. Not a single woman in the country can confidently say that she feels safe and secure here. And now such a decision by the court only adds to the fear. Can such orders really assure us that the country is striving towards making women feels safe? My answers is a straight No.
