“Had To Break Out Of It,” Kubbra Sait On Growing Up With A Controlling Mother

It’s very important for parents to be strict with their children at times, but how later on in life we understand the value of those disciplined days. Also, not to sound philosophical but adult life is definitely not easy, so the teachings that you get from your parents as a child surely come in handy. Talking about this and her mother on the new episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, Kubbra Sait shared her experiences of her bond with her mother Yasmin Sait and how that shaped her as an individual.

The brand new episode of The Male Feminist had the very charming Kubbra Sait as the guest and Siddhaarth Aalambayan indeed had a retrospective conversation with the actress. The actress shared instances from her childhood and talked in length about her mother. The actress praised her mother for being that strong pillar in her life who did everything for her children to make them feel protected.

She then went on to talk about all the restrictions that were imposed on her by her mother. She had a curfew time and did not go to any parties as well. Well, these sound quite relatable but the problematic thing was that Kubbra Sait did not have friends because her mother didn’t have too. On that note, the actress-turned-writer also shared one incident from when she was in Class 7. She was too elated to get a cute gift from a friend but her mother asked her to return the gift. The reason given by her mother for this was that if one cannot return the same thing, they should not accept anything. Kubbra Sait then said that these little incidents have shaped her ways of life as an adult and have left a strong mark behind. The actress recently wrote a memoir titled ‘Open Book’ in which she talked about these parts of her life.
