Woman Unknowingly Sells Unique Designer Sofa For Only $500. It’s Worth $20,000

There is no better feeling than walking into a store, finding the perfect pair of shoes or jeans and then realising they are on sale. Everyone loves a good bargain, don’t they? Who doesn’t want to hold on to their very hard-earned money? But the key to finding the perfect items on sale, especially on e-commerce websites, is research and a whole lot of luck. And if the woman we are talking about today had done her homework, she would’ve realised that the sofa she is selling is worth way, way more than the price she has quoted. It’s no wonder it sold out without seconds. Much like the COVID vaccine slots.

Jules Schreiner took to TikTok to share how she lost a whopping sum of money all because she didn’t look into the sofa that she had put up on the Facebook Marketplace. You see, she sold it for $500 (Rs 36,500) and later discovered that it was worth $20,000 (Rs 14.6 lakh). I know it’s sad, but it’s also a little funny. Jules had received that sofa for free so it’s not like she actually lost money on it. Although I would still be in tears if I lost the opportunity to earn so much money without actually doing anything.

The sofa, as I mentioned earlier, sold out in mere seconds. The person who bought it uploaded its picture on their Instagram and mentioned the brand. That’s when Jules thought to Google it. What she found out left her stunned. The sofa was designed by Vladimir Kagan, an icon of mid-century modern American furniture design. When she saw other designs by the same designer, she realized that her sofa was actually worth four times than what she sold it for. Yikes.

She captioned her now-viral TikTok, “Thought I had got a great deal on FB market place but ya know things are always too good to be true.”

If she would’ve only Googled the sofa beforehand, she would be rich. However, even though this may seem like a terrible loss it isn’t. Jules received that sofa for free. So she didn’t really lose anything. In fact, she made $500 for doing nothing and the person who bought it seriously lucked out. It’s kind of a win-win situation. But that doesn’t make it any less funny though.
