I remember reading and writing about female cops coming forward and talking about how they were treated and abused by many of their male colleagues within the force. There was another where women within the army had made similar claims. These incidents made me question that if women in our country cannot trust men within the police force to keep them safe, who can they? And if we can’t trust anyone, we are doomed, aren’t we? I personally believe we have been doomed for a while now. In another spine-chilling story, a rape victim’s mother was raped by the cop that was handling her daughter’s case. Yeah, I am just as disgusted as you guys.
On August 29, a police officer in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, was charged with raping a rape victim’s mother, who was pursuing the case of her daughter, 17, with the official. According to reports, the mom called the officer about the arrest of her daughter’s assailant. The mother claimed that Anup Kumar Maurya, then in command of the Haji Sharif outpost, said that he summoned the complainant to his room to obtain her signature on a few pieces of paperwork and raped her there. A complaint was then made by the woman to Superintendent of Police (SP) Anupam Singh, who opened an investigation. After undergoing a medical test, Maurya was charged with raping the victim.
According to reports, SP Singh stated confirmed that the allegations made by the victim have initially been judged to be true. The inspector has been detained and suspended for rape. He was brought before the judge and jailed. In front of the SP and assistant SP, Maurya received a promotion to the position of the police station in charge on July 30 of this year.
