Woman In Thailand Electrocuted To Death After She Played Games On Her Phone While It Was Still Charging.

Advice, words of wisdom, learning from the experience of others, and other fancy forms of seeking guidance from others, in my own experience, are good only to a point, mostly in theory. In practicality, when it really comes to learning from someone else’s mistakes, chances are you don’t. Unless what has happened is too extreme and hard not to have a takeaway from. Just like this recent incident where a woman died after getting electrocuted from her new phone while charging it.

With words of my mother echoing in the background as I write this story, where she reminds me not to use my phone whilst it is still charging, I am wary.  After coming across this unfortunate incident, I have learnt my lesson and how. The woman who passed away, was a 54-year-old woman from Thailand identified as one Yooyen Saenprasert, a resident of Udon Thani province in northeastern Thailand.

The woman had received her brand new phone, only two days prior to her tragic death, that too as a present from her husband. Gifted to her on the occasion of her birthday, the husband narrated how the events that led to his wife’s death, actually unfolded.

He shared how even though his wife was a frequent Thaibets player and would play games on her phone all the time, they hadn’t anticipated the consequences to be this fatal, of operating the phone while on charging. He shared that Yooyen was laying on the bed while the phone was being charged and it so happened that the charging cable was resting on her arm which was plugged into the main switch at their home just behind her.

At the same time, he was out for the evening at their fishpond and when he came back, he found his wife lying unconscious on the bed with burn marks on her arm and hands. Despite several attempts made by the paramedics to revive the wife, she could not be saved for she had been dead for over 4 hours.

The couple seemed to have had just each other and no children of their own, leaving the husband devastated and lonely with the sudden and tragic turn of events. The husband even mentioned how his wife loved playing video games on her phone but that they were unaware it could be so dangerous.

Meanwhile, media reports suggest that there were bruises on the woman’s right hand, possibly due to electrocution, and that the police doesn’t suspect any foul play in the death. In the meantime, he body has been taken to a hospital for post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death, stated Lieutenant Colonel Mangkom Chomkot.

Whereas, we have instantly distanced ourselves from our phones while they charge, 5 feet away from us…
