Woman Found Electrocuted To Death After Phone Falls Into The Bathtub While Charging
If I were to narrow down a list of 5 things that I’d probably find it impossible to live without, I would be a teensy bit embarrassed to admit that I would name my phone before I list down food or water. We’re so habituated to being joint at the hip with this one gadget that to imagine a few hours without logging on to our social media accounts is enough to fill us with some major anxiety. And so, taking your phone to the washroom isn’t as surprising as one might think. But what is, is one woman having to pay the price for that addiction with her own life because she ended up getting electrocuted.
We are talking about the shocking and unfortunate incident that took place in Russia where a 24 year old woman, who was using her phone whilst taking a bath in her tub, lost her life when the phone fell into the water.
Electrocuted to death when the phone that was attached to the charger fell into the water, the incident is scary but also provides a reality check, considering there have been enough times when we’ve been just as careless or close. We don’t hear stories of someone being electrocuted too often but even in the off chance of this happening, this is worrying.

Olesya Semenova’s roommate, Daria told the emergency operator when she found the lifeless body of her friend that, “I screamed, shook her, but she was pale, did not breathe and showed no signs of life. I was really scared. When I touched her, I got an electric shock.” When she found her body, the iPhone 8 which turned out to be the cause of her death was still found charging.
The Russian emergencies ministry upon hearing of the ill fate of Olesya issued a warning as they said, “The tragedy once again reminds us that water and an electrical appliance connected to the mains are incompatible. The same applies to any mobile device. If you drown a smartphone, the worst thing is its failure. But when it is connected to the network, we see what the consequences are.”
