Who Is Hugh O’Leary, UK Prime Minister Liz Truss’ Husband?
After winning the Tory leadership contest, Liz Truss will be the next to move into 10 Downing Street. After securing the top position in the UK government and being elected as the next UK Prime Minister, Liz Truss’ husband, Hugh O’Leary, is expected to play a bigger role in her public life. Up to this point, he has avoided the limelight, and Truss has traditionally tried to keep her family out of being the centre of attention. O’Leary has supported Truss’ every step of the way as the 47-year-old has ascended the political ladder. More focus will surely be placed on No. 10’s newest residents as the former foreign secretary gets ready to become the next prime minister.

Who is Hugh O’Leary?
Hugh O’Leary was raised in Allerton, Liverpool, before his family relocated to Heswall, Wirral. After completing his studies in econometrics and quantitative economics at the London School of Economics, he became a chartered accountant (LSE). O’Leary has been mostly kept in the background during her Truss’ political career while having a fairly private family life with few facts being public knowledge.

Truss was 22 years old and had just delivered a speech as a Liberal Democrat in support of the abolition of the monarchy when the couple first met at the 1997 Conservative Party convention. Hugh O’Leary and Liz Truss got married in 2000, three years after they first met. Liz’s marriage to O’Leary survived her public affair with former Conservative MP Mark Field in 2006, albeit Field’s marriage did result in divorce.

Liz Truss and Hugh O’Leary have two daughters, Frances and Liberty. Their lives are mostly kept secret, and the only social media posts about them are the occasional picture of a birthday cake.
