West Bengal Woman Wins Hearts For Distributing Leftover Food From Brother’s Wedding To Needy

As we all know, the wedding season in India is in full swing. Some people spend lavishly on grand weddings which results in a massive wastage of food. This happens in a country where starvation is one of the major causes of death. However, a photo of a woman from West Bengal distributing leftover food from a wedding to the underprivileged is going viral on the internet. Nilanjal Mondal, a wedding photographer caught a heartwarming picture where a woman dressed in wedding finery can be seen distributing the food to the needy at 1 am.

The picture is from Ranaghat station in West Bengal, the woman is surrounded by metal buckets and big containers filled with food and serving meals on paper plates by herself. The photographer, Nilanjal Mondal identified the woman as Papiya Kar. According to Mondal, the food was from her brother’s wedding reception that day. Seeing a huge amount of food that was left, she took it upon herself to deliver it to those in need. A lot of people were gathered to get a serving of the delicious food including elderly women, little children, rickshaw drivers, and many more.

Mondal shared a few pictures in a Facebook wedding photographers’ group, but the thoughtful and generous deed soon crossed over to other platforms in no time. Many locals who came across her photos on social media, shared that it’s not the first time that she has helped the underprivileged and that she is known to feed the needy in the locality. Many praised her for her actions highlighting the wastage of food at such big functions and hoped that her act of kindness can inspire others to take such initiatives.
