21 Differently-Abled Couples To Tie The Knot At Udaipur’s Mass Wedding

From the many things that fascinate me, one thing that tops the list is – mass weddings. Honestly, it is on my bucket list to attend a mass wedding. Weird, I know. And the most recent mass wedding that is happening to take all the Covid-19 precautions is in Udaipur. The mass wedding is all set to cover 21 differently-abled and underprivileged couples. But what is slightly different this time is that the mass wedding will be promoting the ‘Say No To Dowry’ campaign.

Recently, Mr. Prashant Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sanstha, in an interview with IANS confirmed that 21 differently-abled and underprivileged couples will be tying the knot in Udaipur’s mass wedding. And it will not only stick to the Covid-19 guidelines but also endorse the ‘Say No To Dowry’ campaign.

Prashant Agarwal also added, “NSS will be conducting the 36th Mass wedding in September as our team is fully prepared to follow all safety measures during the ongoing pandemic. Our strategy is to follow social distancing norms to avoid any hazards. The upcoming mass marriage ceremony has been planned with a social awareness campaign ‘Say No to Dowry’. Couples and well-wishers shall keep distance from each other by wearing masks during the wedding.”

A total of 47 disabled and underprivileged couples had tied the knot at the mass wedding held in the year 2020 by the NSS. In fact, till the 35th mass wedding, there have been a total of 2098 differently-abled and underprivileged couples that have got married through the NSS. NSS has recently also been busy helping the needy and the poor to get through the tough Covid-19 pandemic. So far, the NSS has successfully distributed 3050 NSS corona medicine kits, 217958 food kits, and 31313 ration kits to families in need.

Mass weddings have been a great way of getting married for those who are differently-abled and underprivileged couples. It allows them to fulfill their dream of tying the sacred bond with all the rituals and traditions. And what makes the 36th mass wedding safe is the fact that NSS who has organized the entire event has kept in mind the Covid-19 safety guidelines so that there is no spread of the virus. And that just adds the cherry on this sweet wedding cake.
