UP Court Points Out People Worship Goddesses But Rape Women And Minor Girls While Awarding Death Penalty To 2 Men For Gang-Rape

The increasing cases of violence against women show us that women are not safe during the day, at night, at home, outdoors, or anywhere else in this whole world. Recently, a court in Uttar Pradesh sentenced the death penalty to two rapists for gang-raping a minor girl and pointed out that people worship goddesses but rape women and girls.
On Wednesday, a court in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh sentenced the death penalty to two rapists for gang-raping a minor girl and pointed out the irony of Indian society. The court mentioned how our society sees women as objects of enjoyment while worshipping goddesses for their own needs. Pankaj Kumar Srivastava – the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Court judge stated in his order that it is ironic that in our country we worship Maa Durga for strength, Maa Lakshmi for wealth, Maa Saraswati for knowledge, and also worship The Ganga river like a mother.

Pankaj Kumar said that our country has seen women take positions of President, Prime Minister, etc, and such brutal gang rape of a minor puts a question mark on the society. The judge said that the accused men gang-raped the survivor and also spoiled her face by blinding her from the left eye, so whenever she will see herself in the mirror, she would feel sorry for being born in this world as a daughter.
He also remarked that the survivor will be put to a similar test every single day just like Goddess Sita had to take a purity test.
