Nothing good ever comes out of waging wars and this has been proven time and again. The post-war destruction, chaos, economic crisis and death toll are never worth the outcome of the war. With the current ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, this stands true yet again. It is deeply saddening and beyond my imagination what the people embroiled in this war are even going through. We have been hearing horrifying stories about the refugees and how they have become collateral damage in this war. Refugee parents are in constant fear for their children’s lives and worry if the next bomb is going to fall on their roofs. In yet another heartbreaking story that has surfaced on the internet, it has been seen that Ukrainian mothers are writing their family contact details on their children’s bodies.

In the photos that are being shared on Twitter and other social media platforms, it is clearly seen that a little child’s back is covered with the contact details of its family. A Ukrainian journalist Anastasiia Lapatina has shared the photo on Twitter. In the caption, she wrote, “Ukrainian mothers are writing their family contacts on the bodies of their children in case they get killed and the child survives. And Europe is still discussing gas.”

Anastasiia Lapatina has also shared the source of the post in the next tweet. The original photo was shared by the girl’s mother Sasha Makoviy on her Instagram. She has written the post in the local language but Google translate roughly translates it to someone who would pick her daughter Vera up if something were to happen to them. She also wrote that she thought of tattooing the information on her daughter.

If matters have come down to this where parents have to write contact details on the bodies of their children, you can only imagine what they must be going through. I only pray that nobody ever has to experience this. Hoping the Russia-Ukraine war comes to an end soon.
