A 40-year-old woman and her husband were on a pilgrimage to the hill shrine of Palani. They were staying at a lodge in the Palani area of the Dindigul district. A group of men, including the lodge’s manager, gang-raped the woman while her husband ad stepped out to get some food. According to reports, they also tortured the woman and inserted beer bottles into her private parts. Humanity is really dead, isn’t it?

When the woman’s husband returned to the lodge, he was beaten up by the accused. The woman has alleged that she approached the cops in Kannur, where the couple lives, but no action was taken by them. Talking about this incident, Thalassery Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Moosa Vallikadan said, “I have gone through the medical report at the Government Medical College, Kannur, but on the basis of that, there are no injuries as reported by the woman. As the alleged incident had taken place on June 20, according to the complainants, the wounds could have healed also.”

Everything about this ordeal makes my blood boil. The police who are letting the accused get away by not taking this woman’s claims seriously is just as guilty as the men who gang-raped her. It’s shameful and horrifying!
