A Group Of Men Gang Raped A Minor Girl In Front Of Her Parents Because Her Brother Eloped
In my short time as a journalist, I have written about some truly violent and gruesome crimes against women. But with each one, my blood boils more and more. It’s no secret that we live in a regressive society that treats us like we’re disposable. We’re hunted down, brutally assaulted and used as pawns in sinister games. Sometimes, literally. We say this after a minor girl in UP was raped, in front of her parents, by a group of men who wanted to take revenge against her family for something her brother did. I would say we need women’s safety and all that but at this point, it just seems utterly pointless.
In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, a group of men allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl repeatedly in front of her parents. Reportedly, they were trying to teach the family a lesson because their son, the victim’s brother, eloped with a girl from their village. This entire incident is shameful and vile.
On 27 June, the rape victim’s brother eloped with a girl. After searching for the couple and failing, the girl’s family decided to abduct the boy’s family and “teach them a lesson”. They took them to Amroha and repeatedly gang-raped the minor girl in front of her parents. Needless to say, since coming to light, this incident has caused quite a stir throughout their villages. But unfortunately, it hasn’t gotten the media attention it deserves.

According to reports, as soon as the abductors let the family go, they approached Chajalat police station and filed a complaint. The victim’s father told the police that the brothers, uncles, and father of the girl who ran away with their son repeatedly raped his minor daughter. Even though he and his wife pleaded with them to stop, the girl’s family was adamant about getting their disgusting revenge. However, when the police began their investigation, they learned that the victim had been forcibly married to the absconding girl’s older brother, who is one of the culprits.
Yes, it is common in villages for girls to be married off to their assailants. But can you imagine the added trauma this girl must face? This entire incident is so horrifying that it’s giving me the chills. The police have begun investigations and have registered FIR’s against eight men for carrying out this disgusting act. We hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
