This Millennial Guy Is Looking For A Suitable Groom For His Mother. We Need More Wholesome Men Like Him

Here’s a quick history trivia the Hindu Widow Remarriage Act was passed by the Britishers all the way back in 1856. Even though that is over a hundred years ago, even today a lot of people frown upon the idea of a widowed or divorced woman marrying again. Several families are rather apprehensive and put society’s approval above a woman’s happiness. But well, we don’t feel shocked anymore; it’s what happens in every other situation as well.

It’s 2020 and we are still not past those orthodox beliefs? Now, I don’t see why middle-aged men and women who have raised children and lived most of their adult lives by themselves should not get the chance at companionship. Happiness is something everyone has the right to pursue. It’s like Sima aunty told Rupam on Indian Matchmaking that because she is a divorcee and has a child, her chances of finding a partner were slim. But then again, the ever-cringy Sima Aunty could not successfully match any of them. I mean, she wasn’t lying though; what she said was a mere statement on the harsh and shameful truth of our society. It’s also ironic since normally the Indian society promotes the institution of marriage like it’s the magic potion that solves every problem.

Anyway, on the rare occasion that we do come across someone looking for a partner for their parent, it’s just so heartwarming. The last time I heard of a daughter looking for a groom for her mother was in November 2019. A girl named Aastha Verma had tweeted that she was looking for a handsome groom for her mother. After the tweet, she received an outpour of love and support online. It’s so adorably sweet, isn’t it?

Now, following in her footsteps, a 26-year-old man wants to find a groom for his 50-yar-old mother as well. He contacted Aastha but found out that her mother still hasn’t met the right person. She only “found a load of creeps”. So wait, the dating pool is as bad at 50 as it is at 25? There goes all my hope.

That is when this man, who goes by the username- someindianduude, created a Reddit thread in hopes of garnering some insight from people who have also been through the same process. Although, if I am looking for a groom for my mother, Reddit would be the absolute last place I would go. In fact, I would check Tinder before I check Reddit.

Whoever this guy is though, is the ideal son. He wrote on Reddit, “Not sure if this is the right platform to search for a suitable partner for my mother. I am 26 year well-settled guy, solely raised by my mother. She is a headstrong woman who has always supported me throughout my life and I want to return the favour.” Okay, this is the sweetest thing I have ever read. Well, on Reddit. But it makes me want to go “awwww” but that would be weird.

Anyway, he further added, “We all need a partner in the end, don’t we? We’ve tried a couple of dating sites, could only find perverted uncles there. Not sure about matrimonial sites for this age segment. Can someone share their good/bad experience they or their relative had?”

He received a lot of praise online and some viable suggestions as well. In fact, it’s surprising that people suggested trying a matchmaker. A lot of people who have been through this process or seen someone in their family go through this process came forth and shared their experiences as well.

And then, as luck would have, there was a lead for a possible match!

This is so awesome and I really hope others follow his lead the way he followed Aastha’s. The world needs more men like him.

Kudos, someindianduude!
