This Gujarat Woman Was Brutally Thrashed By Her Husband And Children Over The Sound Of The Bell
For the last year and a half, we’ve all been complaining about how boring our lives have become because of the COVID 19 imposed lockdown. It wasn’t until recently that I truly understood how privileged that sounds. While we sit comfortably on our couches and lounge about all day long, there are people literally fighting for their lives. And I don’t just mean the ones infected with COVID. Thousands of women, in every corner of our country, are being subjected to all forms of abuse, at the hands of loved ones, for some, it’s their husband. This lockdown, which we claim has made our lives dull and monotonous, has caused them to be locked in with their assailants. Last year, official reports claimed that domestic violence cases during the pandemic have surged through the roof. Clearly, the situation hasn’t gotten any better ever since. Domestic violence continues to be the shadow pandemic and I’m afraid its negative impacts will last a lot longer than COVID 19.
Most recently, a case of brutal domestic abuse has surfaced from Ahemdabad, Gujarat. A woman was thrashed by not only her husband but also her children. They were irked by the sound of the bell. It’s unbelievable. The victim, identified as Anita Kashyani, filed a complaint against her husband, son and daughter. A husband involved in domestic abuse nothing new. But children thrashing their own mother? It’s heartwrenching.

According to reports, the victim said that she was doing her everyday chores when her husband, Kishore, got agitated with the sound of the bell. He began screaming at her and soon it got physical. Anita’s daughter Kushali and her son Savan also allegedly abused her. Anita said that while beating her Kishore kept asking her to withdraw an earlier domestic abuse case. It was also revealed that Anita was seeking maintenance from Kishore as he would often assault her. When she refused to withdraw the case, her husband and children brutally abuse her.
All the three accused eventually asked her to leave the house and threatened her with dire consequences. Unable to bear the torture anymore, Anita lodged a complaint against all three of them.
We are glad Anita gathered enough courage to take this step to safeguard herself. This case is utterly shocking because of the involvement of her children. If they are abusive at such a young age, it’s scary to think about what they will grow up to do. It’s more of a reason that we need protection for women and stronger anti-domestic abuse laws.
