The Chinese Version Of Ankhein Khuli Ho Ya Ho Bandh Is Going Viral On Twitter And It’ll Grown On You
If you ask any 90’s kid what their favourite Bollywood movie is, they will probably give you a list that consists of either Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, DDLJ, Mohabbatein or Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Of course, barring Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, the one thing all the movies have in common is Shahrukh Khan and his charming dimples. Oh wait, all those movies also have a bunch of legendary songs that every single person knows the lyrics and the hook steps to.
Out of all those songs, Ankhein Khuli Ho Ya Ho Bandh from Mohabbatein is the ultimate song to dance to. You know the song that goes turu ru ruru ruru (I bet you just sang that in perfect tune while reading it, didn’t you?). Mohabattein is one of my all-time favourite movies and just like any 20-something year old, I can sing Ankhein Khuli Ho Ya Ho Bandh in my sleep.
The reason I am suddenly giving you’ll insight into my SRK song preferences is that there is a Chinese version of Ankhein Khuli Ho Ya Ho Bandh floating around on social media. The video is going viral and of course, netizens are divided between- don’t ruin classic songs and this is super catchy.
The Chinese version of “ankhain khuli hon ya hon band” is the most legendary video ever uploaded on the internet. Always lifts my mood.
Posting it here again so it never dies. pic.twitter.com/uZC8MZF28D— Aunty Rukhsana (@KhanBoringCo) June 21, 2019
The person who put this up and the internet is grateful for their contribution, said “The Chinese version of “ankhain khuli hon ya hon band” is the most legendary video ever uploaded on the internet. Always lifts my mood. Posting it here again so it never dies.”
Personally, I believe the Chinese version of the song is hilarious and it timed to perfection. The video is the same one from Mohabbatein featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jugal Hansraj, Uday Chopra, Shamita Shetty and Kim Sharma and of course, SRK. The video even has Chinese subtitles. Whoever has made the video is a genius since it’s perfectly mixed. Should they do this to more of our songs?
Now, we have no idea what the lyrics mean. I mean, for all we know it could be a bunch of gibberish in Chinese and we wouldn’t have a clue. But it is super fun to listen to. The Chinese version of the song does sound a lot like Joey trying to speak French so I wouldn’t dismiss the gibberish theory too fast.
As you’ll might have guessed from that caption, this is an old video that has resurfaced and taken social media by a storm again. Don’t get me wrong, as I mentioned before I love the original version and I know we are hating everything Chinese right now, but after listening to this song on loop, you can’t deny that it kind of grows on you. Somehow, even their Tu ru ru ru ru ru’ is more like an earworm than ours is.

After listening to the song over and over, I think it’s safe to say that while the Chinese rendition is catchier nothing can beat the original song. Brownie points to them for trying though.
What do you think, Chinese or OG?
