Telangana Man Married Both His Girlfriends On The Same Day At The Same Mandap
When I am in a relationship, a lot of my energy goes into trying not to feel jealous. I try even though I know it’s a losing battle. I wouldn’t call myself an overly possessive partner but I have my (many) moments. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy writing articles about people who have differently-functional relationships. I say this after reports surfaced about a man from Telangana who married both his girlfriends on the same day, at the same time. It’s bizarre, yes. But how often do you hear of such an incident in India?
In the Ghanpur village in Telangana, on 14 June, a man married off his aunt’s two daughters to the same man. The man married both his girlfriends at the same mandap. Isn’t this amusing? I do have some questions. Is this like a throuple situation or just a man who married two women? And, how are the women not at each other’s throats? I would be green with envy if I had to share my wedding day like this.

Reportedly, the man, Arjun, fell in love with both the women, Usharani and Surekha. He was dating them both for the last four years. Everything was going his way until his family decided it was time for him to get married and settle down. Not knowing how to proceed, Arjun managed to convince both his girlfriends, their families and his family that it was a good idea if he married them both. He must have god-like powers when it comes to persuasion.
It may sound weird and twisted to us but in a lot of communities, especially tribal ones, a polygamous marriage, such as this one, is not considered unconventional or unusual. Although, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s extremely bizarre. But hey, as long as the three of them are happy, right?
