Why The Suicide Case Of A School Girl Sparked Tension In Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi?

There’s a lot of pressure on the young generation these days and at times, it can have serious repercussions. People should know that the pressure of being perfect in everything is not something that everyone can handle as every person is different and unique in their own way. Recently, the death of a school girl in Tamil Nadu has sparked major tension as the parents of the student along with their relatives started protesting against the school administration.

According to the reports, a class 12 student committed suicide by jumping off her hostel building after reportedly being tortured by two teachers of her school. The incident took place in Chinna Salem near Kallakurichi. The watchman of the hostel found her body on the ground on July 13 and informed the school management. They took the student to the nearby hospital but she was declared dead. The girl’s family is also saying that the two teachers had mentally harassed and humiliated her. Police mentioned that the student had left behind a note that says she was struggling in several subjects and alleged being humiliated by her teachers for her academic performance.

Relatives of the girl and others have been staging protests outside the school campus. However, the protest turned violent after the protestors set at least 15 buses on fire while clashing with the police.

The Police have said that the first post-mortem report mentioned ‘abrasions’ and the student’s parents have said that a wall near the suicide spot had the mark of a bloodied palm and claimed that the palm points to a physical struggle, as per reports.

The Madras High Court has ordered another round of post-mortem in the suicide case but they have turned down the family’s plea that the second round of autopsy will be carried out by a doctor of their choice. The court has directed the police to take strict action against the people who are protesting outside the school campus.
