Government Lawyer Says Mahant Bajrang Muni Who Gave Rape Threats To Muslim Women Is A ‘Respectable Religious Leader’, Faces Backlash On Twitter

You know, the internet never fails to disappoint us and it’s a fact that many people who use social media platforms have questionable opinions. However, some people make me believe that the internet can be used in a good way too. Recently, Twitter called out a government lawyer who reportedly said that Mahant Bajrang Muni, who gave rape threats to Muslim women is a ‘respected religious leader’.

On Friday, the Additional Solicitor General named SV Raju described seer Bajrang Muni, who had issued rape threats to Muslim women in April, as a ‘respected religious leader’ at a Supreme Court hearing on a petition. During the hearing, the government lawyer mentioned that Bajrang Muni is a respected mahant and a religious leader in Sitapur with a large following. He added that when you call a religious leader a hate-monger, it raises problems and outrages the religious feelings of Bajrangi Baba’s followers, as per reports.

The petition was filed by Mohammed Zubair – Alt News co-founder, challenging a case filed against him in Uttar Pradesh. According to the reports, the UP police have booked him for calling three Hindutva supremacists, including Muni, ‘hatemongers’. After that, many people called out SV Raju for supporting a man who gave rape threats to Muslim women on camera and doesn’t even regret making such shameful comments.

Take a look at their reactions here:

One user commented, “Just because he has followers in a region, he can’t be called ‘respected’. Tomorrow ASG (Additional Solicitor General) will use ‘respected’ for Asaram or Ram Rahim too?” Another user tweeted, “ASG is employed with taxpayers’ money to defend people who give rape calls?”
