However, one thing even I am sure of is that the duo starting the batting for any game has a crucial role to play. In fact, to a lot of extents, their performance also decides the fate of the game. And such an epic duo’s performance was witnessed in the Women’s T20 match against England today. The commendable performance by Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma has created a record-breaking partnership in the history of women’s T20 cricket.

The three-day T20 match between India and England saw a brilliant performance by the Indian team in the second match. What stood out the most in this match was the brilliant pairing of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. Smriti Mandhana who is the women’s team opener scored 77 runs in just 53 balls and Shafali Verma maintained an amazing partnership with her on 55 run stand. The team was chasing a target of 143 runs. They effortlessly pulled off the win in this game by 8 wickets and achieved the target score in just 16.4 overs. Currently, the scoreboard looks like 1-1 for both teams and only the third match will decide which team takes the T20 cup home. The Smriti-Shafali partnership has created a total of 1152 runs and is the only duo to surpass the 1000 mark in the history of T20 in India which is also one of the shortest forms in cricket. The pairing stands on the seventh rank on the world board, as per the news.
