Reddit Users Share Conservative Ideas Indian Men Have About Women And Relationships. Ah, The Same Old Gender Norms!

You know, I was extremely shocked when I found out that men are considered superior to women because as a kid, I used to believe that men and women get treated as equals. Well, speaking of this never-ending debate, Redditors were recently discussing how desi men view gender roles. A Reddit user asked this question, “What are the conservative ideas that Indian men hold when it comes to women and relationships?” The answers are all about the same old gender norms. We are not shocked though, TBH!

Controlling or manipulating your partner or anyone, in general, is extremely problematic. There is no doubt many Indian men (I know, not all men) agree with the notion that women must always obey men. So, when Reddit users started sharing all the conservative ideas that Indian men hold about women and relationships, it was not surprising that they mentioned that they mentioned all the age-old gender roles.  A user said that Indian men expect women to be better cooks as if they belong in the kitchen.

From men controlling women to not treating them as an equal, this user listed down all the conservative and toxic ideas.

Surprisingly, many Indian men also came forward and said that they held some conservative ideas about women earlier. But they realised their mistake and educated themselves in order to be better allies to women in their life which is so cool, TBH.

Nowadays, traditional gender roles and stereotypes are being questioned and modified. And we think that Indian men need to educate themselves.
