CWG 2022: Priyanka Goswami Makes History As She Clinches The First Medal In 10,000m Race Walk. Silver It Is!

Any achievement that is experienced the first time is always special. One might achieve many milestones after that but the first will always be remembered. And talking about the first achievements, many of them have been made by our women athletes in this year’s Commonwealth Games, Birmingham. After the first gold medal won by the amazing women’s team in the Lawn Bowls Event,  now we have Priyanka Goswami scripting history as she secures a remarkable win to get the country its first medal in the 10,000m race walk.

Our Indian women athletes are on fire in the Commonwealth Games 2022. After witnessing the glorious victory of Sakshi Malik in winning a gold medal in wrestling, now we Priyanka Goswami giving the country a moment to rejoice. On Saturday, August 6, the 10,000m race walk event was held at the CWG 2022. Priyanka Goswami finished her race in the second position with her personal best timing being at 43:38.83s. Jemima Montag of Australia clinched the first position whereas the bronze medal was secured by Emily Wamusyi Ngii of Kenya. Another Indian athlete in the race was Bhawna Jat who finished in the eighth position. India got its first medal in a 10,000m race walk and this was made possible by Priyanka Goswami. Previously, Harminder Singh had scripted history by winning the first bronze in the 20km race walk event at the Commonwealth Games 2011, Delhi, as per the report. After this terrific win by Priyanka Goswami, congratulations pour in for her from everywhere and the country is well, always up to celebrate our winners.
