A Mother Dog Took Care Of Abandoned Newborn Girl In Chhattisgarh Village
I believe in the world we’re living in currently, animals show more love and compassion than we humans do. The term ‘humanity’ has lost its meaning and continues to do so as people keep committing heinous and cruel crimes against one another. And as someone who reads and writes about these incidents daily, you can imagine how much hope (or lack thereof) I have from the ‘goodness’ of our world. In times likes these, stories like these make my heart warm and make me feel a teensy bit hopeful again. Let’s talk about this incident in Chhattisgarh where a newborn girl was abandoned and a mother dog took care of her for a night.
The baby was left at the mercy of the cold winter night in Saristal village of Lormi in Mungeli district in Chhattisgarh. She was abandoned completely naked with her umbilical cord still attached. She was found by the Chhattisgarh villagers after they heard her crying along with a litter of puppies. She, fortunately, had no injuries and the villagers believe that the mother dog cared for the child throughout the night. The villagers contacted the village Panchayat and the local police who rushed to the spot to check on the child. The child was doing fine despite having spent the night in the cold.
ASI Chintaram Binjhwar reached the spot along with the team force and rushed the baby to a local Chhattisgarh hospital. After being checked, the baby was taken to The Child Line Project which is run by the Child Welfare Committee. The girl has been named Akanksha. The committee will decide where the child will live. The Chhattisgarh police are still looking for her family and investigating the matter. According to reports, the local sarpanch, Munnalal Patel, stated, “We had come out for work and at 11 am we saw that there is a newborn baby girl was lying in the village amid dogs. Then, we informed the health department. After that, the newborn was taken to the hospital.”

This whole story genuinely warms my heart. In a world where someone abandoned their own daughter, a mother dog did not forget her duty and took care of the child, regardless of species. This makes me wonder what stops us from showing this compassion to our fellow human beings? How and why do animals show more kindness than we do? Something we really need to think about, if you ask me.
