The recent gang-rape incident reported from Rajasthan has shaken me to the core. It has left me numb! 8 men gang-raped a minor and released the video when she no longer could pay the money.
The news has been reported from the Alwar district of Rajasthan where a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped by 8 men who were all in their 20s. The main accused named Sahil, also blackmailed the girl and raped her on several occasions. The shameless man did not stop there, he also took a lump sum amount of ₹ 50,000 and even circulated her video when she could no more give him the money. The incident came to light when the minor’s brother reported the case to the police. The first case of assault happened with the girl at the end of last year, and since then until the brother finally decided to file the FIR, the girl went through hell many times. As per news, the accused have been absconding, and the DSP of the Kishangarh Bas Circle informed that teams have been made to quickly catch them.

I ask, why the matter was reported so late to the police. I understand that they were scared of the man releasing the objectionable video of the girl, which he did. But the police could help the family here, right? This brings me to another question, do the people not trust the police enough for their protection? This case clearly shows the loopholes or rather the gap that exists between the common public and the police. Also, the fact that they kept on giving the money and the girl continued to suffer fearing humiliation is really sad. I think society has failed her! I just hope the man is caught asap and he pays for the crime he did!
