TMC MP Saugata Roy Calls Out Mamata Banerjee Over Hanskhali Rape Case Comment, Rising Crimes Against Women In WB
While women’s safety in India has always been a concern in India. Let’s be honest with ourselves, by no means is our country safe for women, no matter the age. However, West Bengal is currently being scrutinized after the case of a 14-year-old girl who was gang-raped in Hanskhali made headlines. Moreover, Mamata Banerjee is being criticised for her response to this heinous act. Amidst all this, TMC MP Saugata Roy has attacked Mamata Banerjee and said that in a state-led by a woman, there should be no crimes against women. Ummm so is it acceptable if the state is led by a man?
TMC MP Saugata Roy recently claimed that a state-led by a woman should have no crimes against women. He acknowledged that everyone in the country is worried about the crimes against women. He said that zero tolerance in such matters and in the case of any incidents, the perpetrators should be punished severely. (which I agree with)
Roy then went on to say that it is a shame that in a state where a woman is the CM, such crimes still occur and moreover, there should not even be one such crime against women in her jurisdiction. “I hope the police and administration will be mindful of that fact,” Roy said according to India Today.

This all came amidst the ongoing West Bengal rape case. CM Mamata Banerjee was criticised for her remarks regarding the case. She questioned the fact whether what happened was even rape. She further asked if the minor girl was pregnant or had a love affair and if these factors had been questioned. She then claimed that she was told that the victim had an affair with a boy. (As if that is supposed to make the rape acceptable).

She went on to say that it has been confirmed that the girl was having an affair and the family was aware of this. She then said that having a love affair is one’s personal matter and she cannot stop it. However, she added that if misdeeds have happened, the police will arrest the criminals and one suspect had already been arrested.
