FIR Filed Against TMC MP Mahua Moitra For Her Comments On Goddess Kaali
Recently, the poster of a documentary film titled Kaali took social media by storm as it showed Goddess Kaali smoking. There were many people who came out and gave their opinion regarding the poster and among them was the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra who said that for her the Goddess is a ‘meat-eating’ and ‘alcohol accepting’ deity. She went on to give an instance of Tarapith temple in West Bengal which is a shakti peeth and said that people can see sadhus smoking there. Needless to say, her comments did not sit well with many people who called her out for supporting the poster. In fact, things have gone so out of hand that even an FIR is filed against her.
Mahua Moitra who was called out by people accusing her of supporting the Kaali poster has now an FIR filed against her even after she took to Twitter to clarify that she doesn’t support any film nor did she mention the word ‘smoking’ anywhere. But it seems as though the clarification was not enough.

The FIR registered against Mahua Moitra is under section 295A of IPC for hurting religious sentiments. Speaking about the TMC leader’s comments, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, said that her remarks have hurt Hindu sentiments and that no kind of insults toward Hindu deities will be tolerated.
In fact, as per reports, along with the FIR, many other complaints by BJP leaders have been filed against Mahua Moitra. When asked about these complaints, the TMC MP said, “Bring it on BJP! Am a Kaali worshipper. I am not afraid of anything. Not your ignoramuses. Not your goons. Not your police. And most certainly not your trolls. Truth doesn’t need back up forces.”

Soon after she made her comment on Goddess Kaali, the TMC distanced itself from her and clarified that those comments were made in her personal capacity. They even said in a tweet that the views she has expressed are her personal views and are not endorsed by the party in any matter. They even went on to say that they strongly condemn such comments.
