Maharashtra Is Set To Introduce ‘Aai’ Initiative To Boost Tourism For Women Travellers. Let’s Start Packing Our Bags!

Just a few days ago, we heard about Kerala’s ‘Women-Friendly Tourism’ project under the RT mission that will focus on making travelling hygienic and safe for all women tourists. And now, we received another good news for all the female travel junkies. The Tourism Department of Maharashtra is all set to launch ‘Aai’ initiative in order to boost tourism for women.

In order to boost tourism for women in Maharashtra, the state tourism department is set to introduce the ‘Aai’ (mother in the Marathi language) initiative. As part of the initiative, a new policy on solo travellers will be introduced as well. Earlier this week, Tourism Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha made this announcement.

An official said that the focus of the initiative is to promote solo travel among women as they are choosing to travel and explore the state, and it is the government’s job to ensure their safety and comfort.

The ‘Aai’ initiative will ensure that a maximum number of women are employed at tourist spots as guides, at lodging locations, local markets, eateries, and restaurants. Restaurants, locations, and resorts which are selected under this initiative by the state tourism department will be given the tag of ‘women-friendly’ places and the safety of women travellers will be given utmost priority.
