WHO IS KALPANA KOTAGAL?
Kalpana Kotagal, a diversity, equity, and inclusion expert works for Cohen Milstein, a law firm in America as a partner. She is a member of the Civil Rights and Employment practice group of the firm. The lawyer is also the co-chair of the Hiring and Diversity Committee of the law firm.
On April 1, President Joe Biden announced that he is nominating the Indian-Origin civil rights lawyer, Kalpana Kotagal for the key administrative role along with Vinay Singh who is a certified public accountant. Kalpana is nominated for the role of Commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The announcement was made by the White House on Saturday.

According to the reports, she represents disenfranchised people in employment and civil rights litigation as she specialises in Title VII, Equal Pay Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act, diversity, equity, and other employment laws.

Kalpana Kotagal is the co-author of the book titled ‘Inclusion Rider’, it was mentioned by Frances McDormand, an American actress in her acceptance speech when she won an Oscar for Best Actress.

EDUCATION
In 1999, Kotagal earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Stanford University. She also got her Doctor of Law Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in the year 2005. From 2018 to 2019, Kotagal had Wasserstein Public Interest Fellowship from Harvard Law School.
