More importantly, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin is being spoken about and scrutinized now more than ever before. Alongside Putin his rumoured girlfriend, retirement gymnast, Alina Kabaeva and their alleged children together.

Alina Kabaeva was born in 1983. She started her career in rhythmic gymnastics at just 3 years of age. At the age of 15, Kabaeva won the European Championships held in Portugal and was the youngest member of the Russian squad at the time. She again soon the title of European Champion in 1999 and then went on to gain the world title in Osaka. 

Kabaeva has two Olympic medals, 14 World Championship medals and 21 European Championship medals. However, in 2001, Kabaeva alongside fellow gymnast Irina Chashchina was convicted for doing. She was then banned from participating in any competitions for 2 years. Kabaeva then announced her retirement from gymnastics in 2004. She returned for a few years before completely retiring in 2007.

After her retirement, Alina Kabaeva was one of the 6 Russian athlete torchbearers in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics’ opening ceremony. However, this was highly controversial at the time because of Kabaeva’s relationship with President Putin. 

The gymnast turned politician has been a member of the Public Chamber of Russia since 2005. Additionally, she has also been chairwoman of the Public Council of the National Media Group since 2008. Kabaeva was a member of the Russian parliament from 2007 to 2014. 

During her time as a member of the parliament, Kabaeva supported and voted on numerous controversial laws that were implemented in 2012 and 2013, according to sources.

Why Is Ukraine Asking For Alina Kabaeva’s Extradition?

Despite the name Alina Kabaeva has built for herself in the fields of gymnastics and politics, she is mainly known to be Putin’s mistress. She is Putin’s rumoured girlfriend and the mother of his children. However, nothing is officially declared in this regard. 

While there are no official reports, it has been claimed that amidst the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Alina Kabaeva along with her and the President’s 4 secret children were sent to Switzerland to a private chalet. A petition has been filed demanding that she be extracted from Switzerland and returned to Russia.

The petition also stated that this is the first time in modern history that Switzerland has violated their neutrality; something they didn’t do even during nazi Germany. 

According to reports, Ukraine took offence to the fact that Switzerland has allowed Putin to hide his alleged mistress, Alina Kabaeva to take refuge in their borders amidst war.
