Madhya Pradesh: Woman Mercilessly Beaten On The Street By Husband And Villagers, Forced To Carry Husband On Shoulder
The crimes and torture against women are increasing every day. In the past few days, videos of women being beaten and humiliated on the streets by husbands and neighbours have become so frequent, especially in the rural areas of India. The condition is just getting worse. Again a similar case has emerged from a village in Madhya Pradesh, where the locals silently recorded a woman being tortured by her husband publicly. A video of the crime is going around on social media. As per the sources, the woman was tortured by her husband as a punishment for eloping.
The shocking incident took place in the Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. According to reports, the incident happened in a village that was 80km away from Deswas and it is mainly a tribal-dominated village. Talking about the incident the Dewas SP Dayal Singh informed the media, that police took quick action on Monday as soon as the video went viral. Further shedding light on the crime, Mr. Singh said that the victim was married to her husband for 15 years and also had three children. She was seen at another man’s house by the villagers. As soon as the husband and in-laws got the information, they went to the place and caught the woman. Dewas SP further said that the woman was dragged out by her husband and beaten on the street, as per news reports.
As per reports, the woman and her partner were also forced to wear garlands made of shoes, and as a punishment, the woman was asked to carry her husband on her shoulder. The police also informed that somebody from the crowd dialed 100 and the woman was immediately rescued from the spot. The husband, his younger brother, and 12 others have been arrested in the case. The culprits have been charged under the IPC sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (molestation), 452 (house-trespass after preparation to hurt), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 147 (rioting), and 148 (rioting with a deadly weapon).

The news makes me angry. How come people just silently chose to become silent spectators of this horrific incident. Instead of taking action against the people who were beating a woman so cruelly, the crowd decided to just record the act on phone?
