In Mathura, Men Harass 17-Year-Old Girl, Barge Into Her Home And Throw Her Off The Roof
I’ve been writing about women’s issues for a while now. A major part of my job consists of finding relevant trending stories. But every time I start to scroll through Google, my heart sinks into my stomach. All the news portals are littered with incidents of brutal rapes, domestic violence, harassment and chilling murders. Violence against women is at its peak and our authorities seem to be asleep at the wheel. Today we are talking about an incident in Mathura, UP, where a girl was thrown off the roof of her residence by men who were harassing her.
On Monday night, a 17-year-old girl was thrown off the roof of her residence in Mathura. This crime was allegedly committed by men who had been harassing her. Reportedly, the men broke into her house at around 9 pm, forcibly took her to the terrace, assaulted her and then threw her off.
The girl was rushed to the hospital and had to be moved to a larger facility. She is in a stable condition now. The girl’s family said that the men have been harassing her for a while now. They often pass lewd comments at her.

A case was lodged with the Mathura police. According to them, a probe is underway. They are currently trying to obtain the accused’s call information. After probing further, the police have also uncovered gruesome CCTV footage that shows the girl falling and locals rushing to her aid. One of the accused was also caught walking about on camera.
Shrish Chandra, SP Rural Mathura said, “We received a complaint from the parents that some people made an attempt on her life. An FIR has been filed for an attempt to murder and other relevant sections. Two persons have been arrested and the rest will also be apprehended soon. Further investigation is pending.”
Hopefully, these accused are caught and put behind bars before they can do this with another girl. I have to say though, as great as it is that the police are doing everything in their power to catch the perps, we also need stringent precautionary measures. How many more need to get hurt before the authorities see this?
