In China, A Woman Beat Her Boss With A Mop After Accusing Him Of Workplace Sexual Harassment

Let me ask you something. How would you react if your superior at work made unwanted and inappropriate passes at you? Would you keep your head down and continue working there because you fear your reputation would be tainted or would you raise your voice against this lewd behaviour? Unfortunately for women, both these paths have their own pitfalls. It’s a lose-lose situation. This brings me to my point. There is a crucial need for women to learn how to defend themselves against harassment of any kind. Especially since we live in a world where a woman can’t be too careful. Having said that, today we are talking about a woman from China who took her safety into her own hands. You see, she beat her superior with a mop after accusing him of workplace sexual harassment. And while we don’t condone violence of any kind, it seems like that man had it coming.

A Chinese woman, identified by her surname, Zhou, working in a government office in the northeastern part of the country has gone viral after a video of her beating her boss with a mop emerged on social media. The woman in question claimed that her boss, identified as Wang, has been sending her inappropriate and lewd messages. According to reports, she even accused him of harassing several other women in the office. The 14-minute long video shows this woman not only thrashing the man with a mop but also throwing books at him and even tossing water into his face. We are glad this woman took charge!

While he was being beaten up, Wang is seen covering his face and apologizing. He also said that he sent those messages as a joke. After he said that, another woman, who is not seen on camera, said, “How is it a joke? It shows that you have bad character … Have you thought about consequences for your office?”

Why is it that men, worldwide, think that they can get away with doing anything as long as they justify it with “I was joking”? It’s ridiculous. In what world is sending anyone lewd and inappropriate text messages funny? Anyway, Zhou wasn’t having any of his nonsensical defence. And at the end, there was an internal investigation conducted and Wang was laid off for his “life discipline problems”.

Zhou was forced to take such drastic measures because there just isn’t any other way. Workplace sexual harassment is an issue women face all over the globe. Men in authority positions manipulating their power to get their way. In most scenarios, women are forced to suffer in silence since workplace harassment is not easy to investigate. After this video went viral though, there was an outpour of Zhou’s praise and love. People congratulated her for taking charge of her own safety and that of other women.

More power to her!
