Former Hostel Warden Accuses Shivpuri SDM Of Asking Her To “Supply Girls To Him”, Collector Orders Probe
Every morning we wake up and hear news reports of crimes against women and each one is more chilling than the other. And today there’s another one that will send a shiver down your spine. In a recent case, the former warden of a government-run girls’ hostel based in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, accused the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shivpuri, Bijendra Singh Yadav. of asking her to bring female students of the hostel to him at night. At the time of the incident, Yadav was the district coordinator.
The former warden of the government-run girl’s hostel submitted a notarized complaint to the chief secretaries of the state government and home department among other officials. As per the complaint, as accessed by The Quint, the former warden levelled serious allegations against SDM Bijendra Singh Yadav who was earlier posted as the district coordinator in charge at Shivpuri. The former warden accused Yadav of acting with bias while working with the hostel and the wardens posted there. It was also alleged that he asked her to “supply girls to him” in May and June of 2022. In her complaint, the former warden said that when she refused to bring the female students of the hostel to Yadav, he asked her to visit his residence for one night.
The former warden also alleged that Yadav would visit the girl’s hostels after the stipulated time and would chat with the warden of other hostels. On the other hand, the SDM has denied the allegations. Speaking to The Quint, SDM Yadav said that the former warden is angry and “levelling baseless accusations” against him as he ordered the hostel to be shifted from a private building to a government building and had moved her to the office of the Tribal Welfare Department in Shivpuri. The collector of Shivpuri, Akshay Singh has ordered a probe into the case and the investigation team has 2 lady officers but no other details have been revealed yet.

It’s shocking that such serious allegations have been levelled against a government official who had a duty to protect the female students living in these hostels. If a senior government official makes female students feel unsafe, what hopes do we have left?
