Hamsa Nandini Opens Up About Her Ongoing Battle With Breast Cancer In An Instagram Post
As someone who has had her grandma recently pass away due to cancer, I have seen the hardships attached to this illness very closely. Having shared a room with her, I was one of her primary caretakers and while it was a painful sight, I held her hand through it all. Hence, I felt really touched when I saw this post by Telegu actress Hamsa Nandini as she addressed her absence and spoke about her battle with breast cancer.

Hamsa Nandini posted a post to Instagram where she detailed her struggle with breast cancer and how she is opting to fight it and it is inspiring, to say the least. She spoke about how she lost her mother to this disease 18 years ago and how it has haunted her since then. She felt a tiny lump in her chest and knew that her life would never be the same. Hamsa said that she was scared when she went to get checked up.
Hamsa wasted no time and got a diagnosis, “Within a couple of hours, I was at a mammography clinic getting the lump checked out. I was asked to immediately meet up with a surgical oncologist who suggested that I needed a biopsy. The biopsy confirmed all my fears and I was diagnosed with a Grade III Invasive Carcinoma (Breast Cancer).” while the cancer was removed through a successful operation, her relief was short-lived as she had tested positive for Hereditary Breast Cancer.

Hamsa Nandini gave further details about the condition in the post saying, “This means that I have a genetic mutation that almost guarantees that I would have a 70% chance of another Breast Cancer and a 45% chance of Ovarian Cancer throughout my life. The only way to mitigate the risk is through some very extensive prophylactic surgeries which I need to undergo before I can claim Victory.”
Hamsa Nandini says that she has already undergone 7 rounds of chemotherapy and still has 9 more to go. She captioned the post with the words, “I have made myself a few promises:- I will NOT let this disease Define My Life and that I will fight it with a Smile and Win. I will get back on screen Better & Stronger. I will tell my story so that I can help Educate & Inspire others. And, I will Consciously Celebrate Life & all it has to offer.”
I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of pain and distress Hamsa Nandini must be in right now. I can only help but be awestruck by her powerful fighting spirit. I hope she gets cured of this disease as soon as possible and comes back stronger than ever.
