This Razor Brand Launched A ‘Movember’ Movement Urging Women To Embrace Facial Hair And Spread Awareness About Cancer. We Are All For It!

When you belong to the Millennial universe, there are certain waves of trending quotes, hook steps or even annual movements that hit you up, every now and then. Be it by obsessing over a particular kind of style statement, or making a statement of your own with actions louder than words, chances are that if you’re a millennial, you’d have come across enough movements in your lifetime to know what I’m talking about. And one such movement that caught on in the last few years, was that of ‘No-shave November’ for men in order to raise awareness for cancer. And while it was a good cause and all that, the one that is set to trend this time around is not just equally good a cause, but also gender-inclusive.

Encouraging people to raise awareness for not just cancer, but also opening up a dialogue on how natural and real facial hair is for women too, the razor brand Billie has launched a campaign with the most incredibly creative idea behind it. Changing the entire conversation around facial hair, and moving it from wanting to remove it or hide it to embracing it, the razor brand has come up with quirky ways of getting the word around.

In what has now become a viral video, the campaign ad starts with women donning the voice of their facial hair and announcing to the world, that “Women have mustaches too.” Launched with the caption that read, “Newsflash: women have mustaches. We’ve been trained to hide them, wax them, bleach them, shave them but that doesn’t make them any less real. Fuzzy and faint or dark and dazzling, they’re there. So this Movember, we’re growing out our (formerly) top-secret upper lip hair.”

A video that shows models embracing their facial hair in every way possible, from brushing them to applying mascara on them, the video is all but a step forward into making the society comfortable with facts and truths we have been conveniently turning a blind eye to. The world is changing and now is not the time to hide, it’s to own up to every fiber in your body and take what is rightfully yours. And with such empowering campaigns, that push you to do just that, without letting anything hold you back (be it your facial hair), we might just have a fighting chance in changing the world for good.

Also aiming at enlightening people about cancer and urging them to consider fundraising for prostate and testicular cancer awareness, the spin on no-shave November as the new ‘Movember’ movement is something we ourselves are hoping would be quick to catch up on. Not to mention how enthused us women would be, for having such a noble excuse to not rushing to the parlors and getting our brows and upper lips done. At the end of the day, the only reason we must feel to remove body hair is if we want to, not because the society pressurizes us to!
