As someone who recently got done with college, I still recall and laugh about my broke college student days. Okay, false! I am still a broke college student who just isn’t in college anymore. I believe most of us are raised in middle-class families where we were taught to be very meticulous with our money. I believe because of that I still consider myself broke despite having a steady paycheck. Because most of it goes into savings. Hence, like most of you out there, I tend to indulge in a lot of fake shopping or window shopping. Be it online or offline, I love just checking stuff out which I could potentially own in the future. Sadly, that future is yet to come but oh well, one can hope. I think I took this habit of mine online during the lockdown when all stores were shut and everything was being ordered online. Not only websites but also Instagram stores were raided by my curious longing gaze as I saved stuff from their catalogue. I believe it was lowkey therapeutic; some sense of constancy in the chaos we were all drowning in. Luckily, I am not the only one who believes that and has this habit. Well, safe to say we are all sailing in the same boat. I am definitely one of those who will fake shop or window shop while I send links and pictures to my friends, cribbing about stuff I cannot afford. Anyway, let’s hope we all come to a point someday where we can afford to buy these things and not vicariously live through window shopping and fake shopping.
