Delhi Woman Gang Raped, Beaten, Thrown Off Building In Rajasthan, Two Arrested. Makes Our Skin Crawl!

Every time I talk about how unsafe our country is becoming for women, I feel like a broken record. I mean, do I have to even tell you there are more (way more) than enough instances to back my statement. Don’t believe me? Well, just take the example of this Delhi woman who was gang raped, tied, and then thrown from a building in Churu, Rajasthan. I mean, seriously wtf is wrong with people?

A 22-year-old woman from New Delhi was gang raped, tied thrown off from the 3rd floor of a building in Churu, Rajasthan. Out of the four who were accused, two have already been arrested by the police.

The woman who was gang raped is originally from Assam but was currently living in Rohini, West Delhi. According to the police the woman arrived at the railway station in Churu, Rajasthan on Friday, February 11th, 2022, as she was offered a job by one of the accused. The accused had gotten in touch with her through social media and telephone.

Mamta Saraswat, Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the 22-year-old in her complaint to the police stated that she was gang raped by four men who are all unmarried and are students. She said that they are residents of the Churu district. 

In her complaint, the woman said that one of the accused had befriended her through social media and after a while, over the phone, had offered her a job in Churu. Once she reached the railway station, she was taken to a room from the bus stand, where all four men were drunk. She later questioned them regarding her job and that’s when they promised to arrange a meeting on Saturday. She then went on to say how they gang raped her, beat her, and even tied her up when she started shouting.

As per reports, the woman who was gang raped by the four accused also said that they tied her hands behind her back and pushed her from the third floor of the building. Fortunately for her, she got stuck on a pole and was hanging on it for at least an hour. Later on, the Rajasthan police were informed, who arrived at the scene and rescued her.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police said that the woman who was gang raped had a fracture and some small wounds. The police then filed a complaint against the accused, got the woman medically examined, and started her treatment. The two who are already arrested will be presented in front of the court and the police are still hunting the other two.

My heart goes out to the woman who had to go through all of this to no fault of hers. One would think that after writing and reading so many stories about violence against women I would be immune to it, but I’m not. My skin still crawls from fear and disgust. As a woman myself, every one of these stories slowly chips away a part of me.
