Commonwealth Games 2022: A Complete List Of Indian Women Who Brought Medals Home So Far

Indian women are making the country proud on all fronts. The news pouring in every day about how Indian women are achieving new heights in their respective careers fills our hearts with happiness. And on that similar note, it feels proud to write about the women who are making us proud on the international stage in this year’s Commonwealth Games. This year’s commonwealth games are taking place in Birmingham and today the prestigious sports event marked its 6th day. The games started on July 28 and will continue till August 8. Till now, India has been performing really well, especially the women who have stood out in the game. Here is a list of all the female sportspeople who won a medal in this year’s games so far. The women players have bagged 6 medals till now, we wish to add more!

Mirabai Chanu

India witnessed a historic moment yet again when the Legend Mirabai Chanu won gold for the country in the weightlifting 49kgs event. Congratulations pour in for her from all sides and the whole country celebrated the victory.

Bidyarani Devi

Another athlete Bidyarani Devi bagged a silver medal for the country in the 55kgs event of weightlifting.

Sushila Likmabam

The Indian Judoka Sushila Likmabam again created a moment of pride for the country when she clinched her silver medal on August 1, in the Women’s Judo 48 Kgs event. Sushila Likmabam who hails from Imphal lost her finals against South Africa’s Geronay Whitebooi.

Harjinder Kaur

In the Women’s 71kgs weightlifting event, athlete Harjinder Kaur bagged her bronze medal and this glorious moment was witnessed on the 5th day of the commonwealth games.

Women’s Lawn Bowls

India bagged its second gold medal in the Women’s Lawn Bowls for four. This historic victory was achieved by the team that included Rupa, Lovely, Nayanmoni, and Pinky. This win was all the more special because it was the first time India won a gold medal in this sport. This India women’s lawn bowls team achieved this new height on August 2, 2022.

Tulika Mann

Tulika Mann also brought home a silver medal in the Women’s Judo 78 Kgs event that happened on August 3.

Sakshi Malik

Sakshi Malik made India proud by winning a gold medal in the women’s wrestling 62 kg event. She defeated Canada’s Ana Gonzalez to clinch the gold.

Priyanka Goswami

Priyanka Goswami created history by winning the first-ever medal for the country in the 10,000m race and that too a silver!

Sonalben Patel

On August 5, Sonalben Patel won a bronze in the women’s singles para-TT event.

PV Sindhu

The Indian women athletes gave the event a bang-on end when the news of PV Sindhu winning her maiden gold in the Commonwealth Games made headlines. Sindhi defeated Michelle Li to win her first gold medal in badminton women’s singles.
