CWG 2022: Indian Women’s Lawn Bowls Team Scripts History, Bags First Ever Gold Medal In The Sport! Hum Jeet Gaye!
The Commonwealth Games 2022 are in full swing in Birmingham currently. The Indian contingent of athletes has been making the country proud by winning big in many sporting events. Especially, the female athletes! They have been doing exceptionally great at the CWG 2022, and have brought home medals and glory in various sports. And now, to add another feather to our already colourful hat, the Indian Lawn Bowls team have won the gold medal and has scripted history in doing so.
The Indian Lawn Bowls team defeated the South African team with a 17-10 score. This is a historic win as we have never won a medal in the game ever before. The names of the Indian players in this team are Lovely, Pinki, Nayanmoni and Rupa. What is all the more surprising is that the South African team has been a three-time champion in this game at the Commonwealth Games. It indeed is a proud moment for all of us and we thank the team for rising the county to this glory!

The team beat New Zealand in the semi-final with a score of 16-13. With their gameplay in the semi-finals, they had already secured the silver medal. These four ladies have pushed the sport into the limelight and their win is an encouraging push towards the game as well.

The men’s lawn bowls team isn’t too far behind either. The Dinesh Kumar and Sunil Bahadur, the Indian men’s lawn bowls team, has crushed England and marched into the quarter-finals. Dinesh Kumar who is the skip and Sunil Bahadur who is the lead won with an 18-15 score. The duo will now face Northern Ireland in the quarter-finals.
