CWG 2022: Tulika Maan Marches Into Judo Finals, Confirms Medal For India. This Is The Third One In The Sport For Us!
Girls are not encouraged to pursue sports as a career most of the time. But look how the tables have turned now with so many of our Indian female athletes bringing glory to our nation by winning medals left, right and centre in so many sports at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Female teams and even individual players are the ones making us feel so proud by looking at India’s medal board. Well, we already have another confirmed medal that will be brought home by Tulika Maan, who has competed in judo’s 78 kgs weight category. This news makes us so happy!
Tulika Maan Confirms Medal
As per reports, Tulika Maan has marched into the final round of women’s judo in the 78 kgs weight category. Tulika brought the game in her stride after a shaky start. She pulled the ‘ippon’ move, which is the highest scoring in judo and other martial arts within three minutes into the semi-final match. her opponent was New Zealand’s Sydnee Andrews who did put up a tough fight against Maan. This means that Tulika will bring a silver medal for sure irrespective of the outcome of the final match.

Tulika Maan now has to face Scotland’s Sarah Adlington in the final match which is scheduled for Wednesday. For the unversed, Tulika is a 22-year-old and is also the national champion who has held the title four times! If she wins the gold medal, she will become India’s first judoka (the one who practises judo) to have won so at the current games.

Maan will bring home India’s third medal in the judo event after L Sushila Devi and Vijay Kumar bagged the silver and bronze medals respectively at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.
